Next Meeting: June 4th at 7:30pm
Meeting will be held in the clubhouse unless we are still dealing with COVID-19.
1st HSARC Social Net
Since the April meeting was canceled to comply with CDC guidelines for the COVID-19 pandemic, HSARC turned to the airwaves. A 2 meter net was held on Thursday April 2nd at 7:30 pm, what would have been the start time of the meeting had it taken place.
Shawn, W0FW was the net control station for this net. It was Shawn's idea to have the net instead of the meeting as a way for fellow club members to interact with other members since we are all sticking pretty close to home these days. It is also a good opportunity to get people on the air, even some that haven't been on a quite a while.
Having no idea how much participation we would have for our first net, the format was pretty simple. We would take check-ins then go down the list giving each station an opportunity to share with the group what has been going on in their lives lately.
Some club business was handled over the air, which was kind of awkward but it got handled nonetheless.
After a couple of round-table discussions, it was decided that having a net was kind of fun and that we should do it again......so we are!!
13 stations checked into the net, 12 club members and one ham from Rapid City. The net was open to all hams, you did not need to be a club member to participate.
HSARC has decided to have a weekly net for the month of April, each Thursday night at 7:30pm. Chip, KD0UST will be the acting net control operator for the net on April 9th.
At the end of April, if the club feels that this is something they would like to continue, we will keep it going for the month of May. Who knows....this might be a permanent thing.
